What to expect

Step inside the greenhouse and see for yourself

Nothing delivers instant impact like annuals. Whether you want a front porch overflowing with color or reliable bedding plants by the flat, the brightest and healthiest annuals in the area are right here. The greenhouse keeps tropicals thriving beyond the outdoor season.

Every annual is hand-selected and cared for in the on-site greenhouse until it goes home with you. Nothing sits on a hot shipping truck or a big box loading dock.

The tropical collection goes beyond the usual suspects. You will find banana plants, bird of paradise, and rare hibiscus cultivars that most local retailers do not carry.

Staff can design custom container combinations for you, choosing plants that share the same sun and water needs so the arrangement thrives all season.

Expert Tips

Keep your annuals blooming strong all season

The advice given most often at the garden center. Passed along to you.

Wait Until After Last Frost

In southern Indiana, the safe planting date for tender annuals is mid-May. Planting earlier risks losing everything to a late frost.

Feed Every Two Weeks

Annuals are heavy feeders. A water-soluble fertilizer every two weeks keeps them blooming strong from May through October.

Water Containers Daily in Summer

Pots dry out fast in July and August heat. Check containers every morning. If the top inch of soil is dry, it is time to water.

Professional Installation

Pick it. It gets planted right.

I stop in every spring for my patio containers and every year they help me try something new. The hibiscus they recommended last summer was unbelievable.

Common questions

Annuals questions answered

What is the difference between annuals and perennials?

Annuals live for one growing season and bloom continuously until frost. Perennials come back each year but typically bloom for a shorter window. Annuals are the go-to for nonstop color all summer.

When can I safely plant annuals outside?

In the Newburgh and Evansville area, mid-May is the safe date for tender annuals after the last frost. Hardy annuals like pansies and snapdragons can go out several weeks earlier.

Can I bring tropical plants inside for winter?

Many tropicals like hibiscus, mandevilla, and banana plants can overwinter indoors near a bright window. Cut them back, reduce watering, and move them back outside after the last frost.

Do you sell pre-made hanging baskets?

Yes. The greenhouse carries dozens of ready-to-hang baskets in a range of color combinations. The plants are fully rooted and already performing when you take them home.
